Mogethin, Welimom, Aloha and Hafa Adai to our Remathau Ohana, friends, followers and guests,
Today, as we celebrate Father’s Day, my mind drifts to the image of the father on our outrigger canoe. He is the one steadying the sail, keeping his eyes on the horizon, and ensuring that every member of the crew—the young, the old, the strong, and the weary—arrives safely at the island.
In our culture, the role of a father has never been about seeking glory for himself. It has always been about securing the path for the generation to follow.
Today, I want to share a truth that many of us Remathau fathers carry in our hearts.
The Tug-of-War: Independence vs. Unity
Living here in the United States, our children are taught a different lesson. From the classroom to the television, they are told that to be a “successful adult” is to be completely independent—to leave the family nest early, to shoulder individual debt, and to “make it” on their own.
For those of us who grew up with the ancestral wisdom of the islands, that is a tough sell. We know that the “solo sailor” is a myth that leads to struggle. We see our children straining to swim against the current alone, and our hearts ache because we know a better way—a way of synchronization and shared strength.
Why We Are Introducing the Remathau Financial Strategy
We aren’t asking our children to give up their independence. We are teaching them how to earn it faster.
The Remathau Financial Strategy is our way of bridging that gap. It is the bridge between the American dream and our island heritage. It is a philosophy of collective sovereignty built on three pillars:
-
Synchronized Capital: We stop fighting five separate currents. By pooling our family’s strength—our credit, our income, and our labor—we move as a fleet. We stop paying thousands in rent and interest to outside systems and start building equity that stays in our family.
-
Cross-Generational Navigation: We bridge the wisdom of the elders (the Anchors) with the energy and education of our youth (the Navigators). We are building a vessel that is both stable and fast, ensuring that the mistakes of the past are not repeated and the opportunities of the future are fully grasped.
-
The Cycle of Freedom: This is the most important lesson for our children: Collective action is the fastest path to individual privacy. We pull together today to build the fortress so that tomorrow, each of them can own their own sanctuary, free from the crushing weight of modern debt.
A Father’s Message to the Crew
To the younger generation: Please understand that our push for the Remathau Strategy is not about controlling you; it is about arming you. It is about using the collective weight of our heritage to ensure you don’t spend the best years of your life just trying to keep your head above water.
To my fellow Remathau fathers: Keep holding the compass. Keep teaching the rhythm. It is a long, slow process to change the narrative, but every time we gather the crew, we are securing a legacy that will outlast us all.
We are the Remathau. We move as one. We build as one.
Happy Father’s Day to all the navigators, the captains, and the fathers who are working hard today to ensure their families sail into a brighter tomorrow.
